Jerusalem Marathon & Tour

February 27 - March 7, 2013

Day 1 - Wednesday, Feb 27th: Arrive In Israel

Arrive in Israel, be greeted by a Jerusalem Eternal Tours representative, board your deluxe air conditioned vehicle and be transferred to your hotel in Jerusalem.

Overnight: Jerusalem, Jerusalem Gate or similar

Day 2 - Thursday, Feb 28th: Jerusalem, Old City

Begin this day with a visit at the Mount of Olives (Matthew 24:3, Luke 21:37) for a breathtaking panoramic view of Jerusalem. We will head down the Kidron valley and visit the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46, Luke 22:39-45, Mark 14:32-42), where Jesus spent the last night before he was arrested. Proceed to the Upper Room for a time of prayer and worship. Visit the Western Wall, the retaining wall of the Second Temple. Leave a note of prayer and take the Kotel tunnel tour beneath the wall, we walk on the Via Dolorosa and proceed to Golgotha, also known as Calvary. Here, we will have a moment of reflection at the Garden Tomb. This evening, we will fellowship together over a traditional pasta dinner as we make the final preparations for the Jerusalem Marathon.

Day 3 - Friday, March 1: Jerusalem Marathon

Today, we will partak in the Jerusalem Marathon!

Day 4 - Saturday, March 2: Judean Desert

We will spend this day at the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth and visit Masada - ruins of King Herod’s mountaintop fortress and last stronghold of the Jewish revolt against the Romans in 73 C.E (Ascend and descend by cable car). We continue to Ein Gedi, where David fled from the wrath of Saul. Continue to enjoy a nice afternoon "float" on the Dead Sea. Stop for a visit at Qumran - ruins of the ancient Essene village - site of the first discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls, where many scriptures were found, including the entire book of Isaiah, which was written prior to the time of Jesus. We begin our ascend now back to Jerusalem, the city of our great king.

Day 5 - Sunday, March 3: Jerusalem, New City

This morning, we will partner with TOFI, "Together One For Israel" and visit an Ethiopian absorption center located in Mevaseret Zion. We proceed to Yad Vashem, a memorial to the Six Million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust. We proceed to the Israel Museum’s Shrine of the Book housing the famous Dead Sea Scrolls and the model of the city of Jerusalem dating back to the time of the Second Temple. Visit the State Menorah of Israel outside the Knesset and finish this day with a visit to Bethlehem, here, will visit manger square and see the Church of the Nativity.

Day 6 - Monday, March 4: 

We depart Jerusalem, and drive north going through the Judean Wilderness passing Jericho and continuing to a Baptismal site on the Jordan River, it was in this region that Joshua crossed the Jordan river and Jesus was baptized. We continue driving north through the Jordan Valley stopping to visit Beit Shean one of the cities of the Decapolis, see the excavations of this beautiful Roman City. We drive past Mt. Tabur, visit Nazareth Village and see the environment Jesus grew up in. Proceed to Nazareth to see the Church of Annunciation, continue on the footsteps of Jesus and visit Cana, where Jesus performed the first miracle of turning the water into wine. This evening, we will have dinner with a local Jewish family that loves Jesus.

Day 7 - Tuesday, March 5: Explore The Galilee

Begin this day seeing the ancient "Jesus boat", proceed to go on a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus calmed the storm. Continue to the Mt of Beatitudes, and meditate on the Sermon on the Mount and its meaning to our lives. Visit Tabagha, the feeding of the multitude and multiplication of loaves and fish. After you enjoy a St. Peters fish lunch, proceed to Kfar Nahum (Capernaum) to visit the home of Simon Peter, visit an ancient synagogue, in this environment Jesus did most of His teachings. We now head north to the Golan and visit Katsrin, we finish this day with a visit to the Banias waterfalls, located at Caesarea Philippi , here, Peter recognized that Jesus is indeed the Messiah!

Day 8 - Wednesday, March 6: Jezreel Valley And The Medditranean Shores

After a delicious breakfast, we check-out from our hotel and drive through the Valley of Megiddo stopping at Mt. Carmel, where Elijah confronted the false prophets of Baal. Drive south along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea and visit Caesarea to see the ancient aqueduct, the Roman Theater and the Crusader Fortress. We then continue south to visit Tel-Aviv and Joppa. After a festive farewell dinner together.

Overnight: Tel-Aviv, Grand Beach hotel

Day 9 - Thursday, March 7: We Return Home

We are transferred to TLV airport and board our flight to return back home. We cherish the sweet memories and life changing experience from our visit to the Holy Land.
